We are now receiving second dose vaccine deliveries in the 11th week after the first vaccination for all patients where we gave the first dose. This gives us time to schedule a clinic within the 12 weeks recommended. You will receive your invitation via text if we have a mobile phone for you – you can use the link to book your appointment or forward onto someone with a smart phone to book on your behalf. If we don’t have a mobile phone for you then we will call you. If you haven’t heard from us by 12 weeks then do please call and let us know so we can book you in.
So far we have had a brilliant response from the patients in cohorts 1-9 (everyone over 50 or anyone under 50 with a long term condition that puts them at an increased risk from COVID). However, we still have 622 patients who have not responded to our text invites or phone calls. We have also written to patient’s whose contact number is unobtainable. As soon as we have more first doses available we will send a final invitation to these patients – please either book or decline the vaccine when contacted.
There is a possibility that we will be having a first dose clinic the week commencing 19th April and this will be opened up to Unity Health patients aged 45-49 years. we are hoping to confirm this clinic and send invites out in the next couple of days. Please bear with us before booking in with a mass vaccination centre.
Following a recent announcement from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation, we will also be opening up first invites to those living in the same household as patients who are severely immunosuppressed. We are in the process of sending out a letter to immunosuppressed patients to let them know that they can invite their household to book an appointment for a vaccine at our vaccination centre in Princes Risborough.
You are most probably all aware the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), have advised that anyone under 30 should not receive a first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine – they should be offered an alternative once the vaccination programme is opened up to that age group. Everyone who has already received a first dose should continue to receive a second dose of the AZ vaccine.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
