A message from Dr Gillian Scott who is retiring from Unity Health at the end of March

‘After 30 years working in General Practice, I am going to be retiring from Unity Health on 31st March this year.

I have been very lucky to work through times of great changes in the NHS and in Primary Care in particular and have seen General Practice develop into a complex and dedicated speciality in its own right. When I came here as a GP, we looked after our patients 24 hours a day, on call day and night and employed a receptionist and a nurse. Nowadays, our patients benefit from a much wider team of skilled professionals providing that care, within a climate that is increasingly challenging.

I feel the time is now right for me to hand over the mantle to my younger colleagues to develop a healthcare system sustainable into the future.

I am not ready to stop working completely and I will be spending some of my time teaching medical students about General Practice and the unique and special relationship that GPs have with their patients.

I am also looking forward to spending more time with my family and developing both old and new interests.

Working as a GP around Brill, Long Crendon and Thame has been a true vocation for me and I have felt hugely privileged to have been able to look after my patients and their families for so many years.’

We know that many of you who have been looked after by Dr Scott over the last 30 years, would like to let her know how much her excellent care has meant to you and your families, so we have put a special book at the reception desks in Brill, Long Crendon and Thame so that you can leave a personal message for her.
